The Li River in Guilin is one of the most famous rivers in China and even across the world. It is well-known for its karst landscape on both sides. The river has worked well for locals for hundreds of years. It starts its journey from the Cat Mountain in Xing’an and finishes it at the confluence of Lipu River, Gongcheng River and Li River. The journey lasts for 164 kilometers long.
The Li River flows from Xing’an, southward to Guilin City, towards to Yangshuo and finally gets to Pingle. The Li River runs through Guilin City for 49.3 kilometers long. It flows by several popular spots in the city, including Mulong Lake, Fubo Hill, Diecai Hill, Zizhou Islet, Liberation Bridge and Elephant Trunk Hill. The Elephant Trunk Hill offers stunning sunrise to enjoy while Fubo Hill and Diecai Hill feature the panoramic views of the Guilin City to admire. On the Liberation Bridge, tourists will appreciate the amazing views along the Li River at night.
Then, the Li River flows southward to Yangshuo, past Daxu Old Town, Mopanshan Hill, Wujiu Shoal, Cattle Valley, Expecting Husband Rock, Caoping, Crown Cave, Fairy Grinds the Mill, Yangdi Pier, Wave Stone Legend, Reflection of Yellow Cloth Shoal, Snail Hill, Carp on the Wall, Pen Peak, and the Impression 3rd Sister Liu Show Theater. In addition, the river has also witnessed the Fuli Old Town for hundreds of years. The town is famous for the traditional fan-painting. Tourists can take the Li River cruise big boat or a private Li River motorized raft to admire the landscape along the river. The Li River is also good for hiking and cycling. Tourists can explore the river on foot or by bike. And, they can visit the nearby villages adjacent to the river.
