The Li River in Guilin is always one of the most popular spots around China. Every year, thousands of tourists from China and all over the world enjoy the Li River Cruise from Guilin to Yangshuo. Then, what is the direction of the river flow? Let’s take a quick look at the Li River China map.
The Li River flows from north to south, starting from the Cat Mountain. It has more than 20 tributaries in Guilin Region. Meeting the old Lingqu Canal in Xing’an, the river has witnessed the development of tens of villages along the river. It offers amazing sunrise and sunset in the countryside to enjoy. |
The Li River runs through Guilin City to Yangshuo. The Li River section in Guilin City meet Elephant Trunk Hill, Diecai Hill, Fubo Hill and Liberation Bridge. Walk along Binjiang Road where you can be able to see Elephant Trunk Hill, and you’ll be amazed at the stunning night views at night. The Liberation Bridge offers breathtaking night views along the river and overlooks the Elephant Trunk Hill in the distance. And the Fubo Hill and Diecai Hill feature the panoramic views of Guilin City. When the river flows outside the city, it meets Daxu Old Town and Mopanshan Hill.

From Mopanshan Hill, the Li River flows southward to Yangshuo. Along the route, it runs past Cattle Valley, Crown Cave, and Fairy Grinds the Mill. From Yangdi pier, the river features the most breathtaking karst scenery to admire, including Pen Peak, Wave Stone Legend, Reflection of Yellow Cloth Shoal, Nine-horse Fresco Hill, Snail Hill, and other karst mountains. Xianggong Hill by the Li River is well-known for its gorgeous sunrise and the bird’s eye view of the Li River.
The less-known Laozhai Mountain in Xingping Old Town also has amazing sunrise and sunset to admire. Damian Mountain close to the river offers the beautiful sunrise and the first bend of the Li River to view. Outside Yangshuo, the Li River goes into Pingle. In Pingle, the ending point of the river is the confluence of Lipu River, Li River and Gongcheng River. |
